I am Dawson City-based artist, with an interest in patterns. I am interested in their primordial quality, their link to spiritual values and the commonalities that occur cross-culturally. I am interested in their representation of life cycles, of nature, and our connections to them found within articles of everyday life, such as quilting, tiles, needlepoint, wallpaper, cultural artifacts, rugs and jewellery.
I started thinking more about these things after doing a jigsaw puzzle, and realizing that the same applications were involved as those in mosaic. Bringing together many small pieces into a coherent whole is akin to creating order out of chaos.
I installed a floor mosaic in the front hall of our house, being short an adequate number of matching tiles. That led to putting the first series of mosaics together, which were the 4" x 4" mirrors. That, in turn, led to putting this site together. I hope you enjoy it.
